The hair would need to have the root (hair follicle attached) to test to determine if there is viable DNA present.

My dad passed away 13 yrs. ago but I have a lock of his hair which has been sealed in a plastic bag since he passed. It has come to my attention that he may not be my biological father. Is it possible to perform a DNA test using his hair?
