IQAS Forensic Proficiency Testing Program

International Quality Assessment Scheme (IQAS) is a forensic proficiency kit distributed by Orchid Cellmark to both public and private sector forensic DNA testing laboratories. Since the inception of the IQAS program in 1991, Orchid Cellmark has distributed thousands of IQAS proficiency test kits to hundreds of DNA testing laboratories nationally and internationally.

Features of IQAS include:

• Approved by American Society of Crime Lab Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board/Proficiency Test Review Committee (ASCLD/LAB/PRC)
  
• Kits may be purchased in every quarter or alternate quarters
  
• Kits distributed on an automated basis
  
• Each quarterly test contains a different set of samples
  
• Choice of testing either blood or semen stains, single source stains or mixed stains for casework scientists, liquid or dried blood for CODIS database scientists
  
• Results can be submitted electronically or by fax
  
• Verification of receipt of test results provided to customer within two days
  
• Preliminary report with correct test results provided to all customers shortly after due date
  
• Final report with individual results of all customers provided in collective format after grading process
