James F. Smith
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
James F. Smith has served as our Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since October 2007. Mr. Smith was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Aphton Corporation, a biotechnology company that developed cancer immunotherapies, from August 2004 to 2007. Prior to joining Aphton, he served as Vice President and Global Controller of Ansell (Healthcare) Ltd., a manufacturer of healthcare-related barrier protection products, from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Smith held senior finance/accounting positions for Wyeth and American Cyanamid Company. After graduating from Quinnipiac University with a degree in accounting, Mr. Smith started his accounting career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is licensed as a certified public accountant. On May 23, 2006, Aphton Corporation filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The plan was later approved as Chapter 11 liquidation on March 29, 2007.
