This position encompasses clerical functions in all aspects of daily specimen receipt and case processing , assists in the preparation of case data for final review by doctoral staff, issues results to customers and performs other associated tasks in accordance with site specific Standard Operating Procedures. A CDA II will exhibit proficiency and accuracy in all areas including but not limited to: data entry, invoicing, issuing reports and contribute to all other aspects of departmental functions on a regular basis as assigned. |

Orchid Cellmark Inc. is currently looking for DNA Analysts to support the U.S. Department of Defense overseas. This position will require 2 weeks of training in Virginia and four months of continuous overseas deployment.

| Essential Functions: |
- Performs STR DNA analysis on samples with diverse matrices and various levels of template DNA to include touch DNA samples.
- Extracts DNA using multiple extraction procedures including differential extraction, quantifies on a Real-Time PCR instrument, amplifies using current, validated amplification kits (e.g. Identifiler® Plus, Yfiler®, Minifiler™), and analyzes samples on current genetic analyzer platforms (e.g. 3100, 3130, 3500).
- Utilizes, maintains, and calibrates a variety of modern scientific equipment such as but not limited to Real-Time PCR, thermocyclers, and genetic analyzers (3100, 3130, or 3500).
- Uses software platforms Genemapper ID and/or Genemapper ID-X.
- Makes sound scientific decisions in regard to DNA scientific results obtained.
- Performs statistical analysis and interpretation of DNA results from diverse matrices and DNA template level for both single source and mixture results.
- Examine and process latent prints.
- Conduct DNA analysis.
- Analyze test materials, evaluate the data, and data peer review for accuracy and completeness.
- Utilizes problem solving skills to address issues associated with technical and associated environmental issues. Incorporates and expands quality assurance principles into the laboratory operation.
- Maintains laboratory equipment via daily maintenance and troubleshooting, as required.
